Use a combination in a tiny home

If you are about to put in a new heating boiler you should look at a combi boiler if you have a shortage of space. All you require to install the full central heating system is a combination boiler and balanced flue. To complete the heating you just need radiators, the essential fittings and an amount of copper pipe. You might ask whether we had lost some pieces out of this statement. Isn’t it true that most systems seem to need a feed and expansion cylinder in the loft, a water pump to move the hot water around and a storage cylinder to keep hot water when not needed.

It may shock you to learn that a combination heating boiler does not want these components. You can leave out the hot water storage cylinder, space in the loft can be saved by leaving out the feed and expansion cylinder, the other small pieces we have named are actually built into the combi gas boiler. So you can see with a combi heating boiler you can save a considerable amount of storage space within your house.

Whilst you might consider all this is new actually combination heating boilers have been fitted for a number of years. They are a very popular boiler in the United Kingdom and were first installed in Europe. There are two main divergences between this form of heating boiler and its better known alternatives. The first point to highlight is that the circulating hot water for the central heating is within a fully sealed system. Having no open outlets there is no need for a feed and expansion tank in the loft. The gas boiler itself incorporates a large capacity expansion cylinder but again this is part of the sealed unit.

Hot water is only created as it is called for, this is signalled when you turn on a tap. Cold water is quickly heated up by the use of an economical heat exchanger. Water from the sealed central heating circuit is heated and is diverted to the hot water heat exchanger heating it up. On the other side of the heat exchanger cold mains water is heated before finishing its journey to the hot water tap.

Automated priority is rendered to the need for hot water over water being rendered to the radiators to heat up the household. The instant the hot water tap is shut the combi boiler system will once more start supplying hot water to the radiators.

This might give you food for thought and the impetus to consider a combi gas boiler as your next brand-new gas boiler.
