Stop thinking about gas boiler problem
Summertime time does not cause one to worry much about heating, but as long as you are used to your hot showers with no other alternatives, you might be in for some trouble if your boiler malfunctions when winter arrives. No one remembers about the heating boiler in their house until that day when it breaks down. Right away it comes to the front of the agenda with a recognition of its importance and the costly nature of its maintenance.
Most of the repairs of your rented home are covered by your landlord including your central heating system repairs so you could be lucky. But if you own your home, a little money kept aside every month as an emergency fund will come in handy in such a central heating system failure if you do not decide to invest in central heating boiler insurance.
Instead of repairing a ten year old boiler, consider installing a newer and more efficient system which could significantly cut down your utility bills and pay for itself in a number of years. You can select a new boiler type based on the size of your house, the number of family members and the current heating boiler type. The most common type is the combi boiler, it is perfect for small homes and for people who want hot water quickly. This central heating system heats up the water through the mains as used and therefore a storage tank is not required. With such a combi central heating system, a hot shower is instantly available; however if another hot outlet is opened, your share of warm water will quickly run out and you shower could be a cold one.
A sealed central heating boiler system has a storage tank, often in ventilated closet, and allows a big family to simultaneously use the hot tap and take showers without diluting hot water or reducing the water pressure. The benefit of using a system heating boiler is that it can be installed quickly and easily in a relatively small area. However, because of the storage tank, hot water isn’t instant and can run out if used too quickly.
The most space is taken , two water tanks in the attic and a storage cylinder in the upstairs airing cupboard, by a open vent boiler normally found in older houses. This heating boiler too doesn’t give hot water instantly like the sealed system though once again it allows several taps and shower to work at the same time, water pressure is also not to good here.
A back gas boiler takes a lot of space but it allows multiple outlets of hot water without loss of water pressure. Back boilers are usually stored in the chimney breast but if you do not have this type of gas boiler installed you will find that it is not worth shifting over to this form of heating. It would save you a lot of money on installation of a new boiler if a back boiler is already installed in your home when you moved in, as it is cheaper to replace an old back gas boiler rather than install a completely new heating system.
But, no matter what kind of central heating system you have in your home it can be very expensive to repair. That is why it is important to get heating insurance so you can be confident that any costs will be taken care of if something breaks down, costs which cover labour and spare parts for your heating boiler. Buy an insurance plan that includes an annual maintenance contract and emergency house calls and repairs when needed; you will save some extra money and mean you never have to shiver in your shower again.
