Enhance your gas heating system with a new central heating boiler

We should all prepare for the wintertime months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good central heating in our homes. Heating your home will make it a relaxing and cosy place to be, so therefore you need a reliable and economical gas central heating system.

In general, two types of gas central heating systems exist, one that’s pumped and the other with a vented system; but a boiler, radiator and pipework make up the components of most heaters.

The most commonly used central heating systems are the pumped systems, which consists of two outstanding parts, a feed and expansion tank; the tank is the core of the system, it first heats itself and then transfers the heat to the heaters through the pipes. Provision is made for water to be filled in the expansion tank tank as well as for expansion of the heated water.

There is also what is known as a sealed system in which no centre core is used to heat the central heating radiators. Since it is entirely sealed, the feed-expansion tanks are not required. It works well in colder countries like Norther Europe because the pipes are less likely to freeze up in this system, in addition to that there are less chances of leaking and there are no airlocks too.

So you might ask what is really the point of getting central heating?.

The simple answer is that it will allow you to heat your entire house or office quickly without compromising the air quality. Before the gas central heating system came into existence, other heaters like electric and storage heaters were used to keep the home warm or even coal fires. But the main drawbacks with these, were that they made the air somewhat dry and hard, as well as letting off a slight smell.

These air quality issues were eliminated by gas central heating; but such a desirable environment can be ensured only by periodic servicing of the heating system to keep it running efficiently and safely. Many home owners turn them on immediately at the arrival of cold conditions after leaving them off during the summer season, which is not the proper thing to do. Instead it is advocated that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.

Furthermore, some of these systems also give admission to air and dirt; therefore emptying is a necessity, which should be done regularly with an annual service schedule. The best way to do this is to place a bucket underneath the drain valve and slowly open it to release the water, but just make sure that no more air or dirt is making its way in.
