Don’t overlook boiler protection policies

Don’t overlook boiler protection policies

These days anything from laptops to pets can be covered with insurance policies. Some are more important than others, and some are even compulsory, as is the case with car insurance. Lenders will also require borrowers to take out house insurance if they have a mortgage to cover the cost of replacement and reconstructing. These insurance policies can prevent you from suffering great loses impacting on your life for years to come.

If we move our attention to risks which are less important then we would meet products such as gas central heating plans, protection products which are offered by the likes of British Gas, npower, Eon and Homeserve. These policies are used only rarely while in reality it should be the opposite because even though their rank in terms of one’s need don’t match that of insuring the actual home, the central heating system of a home is an absolute need and fixing it can be costly. On top of the cost, you may have to wait some time to have a professional come to your house to fix any problems and living without hot water or heating can be a nightmare. A damaged or badly maintained gas central heating system can leak carbon monoxide gas which can be deadly.

In the market there are a wide range of central heating, central heating boiler and household maintenance plans. Basic plans will cover annual servicing, safety checks and other minimum requirements. No repair work or spare parts are included. If your heating boiler is no longer under guarantee and you only have a basic plan you could upgrade to cover that includes spare parts and repairs for just a little extra money. And you could find that if you have an especially old central heating boiler that this money will go a long way. You can extend your policy to cover other things too, besides the gas boiler like radiators and other parts of the central heating system or even plumbing, drains and home electrics cover.

One needs to be wary of any exemptions or limitations included in the policy document when selecting an insurance policy, each supplier is different. For example, you may be limited to a certain number of call outs every year or a cap on the cost of repairs that will be covered. Do not buy a policy just because it is cheap, the insurance cover should be sufficient for your needs.
